Which glass the position legally requires. Doors, bathrooms, low-level glazing, balustrades, pool fences and overhead glass all need grade A safety glass under AS 1288. Once you know that, you can compare quotes properly, because a cheap quote that specifies the wrong glass is not cheaper, it is non-compliant.
Why are there no prices on most glazing websites?
Because glass is priced per square metre by type and thickness, and then labour is priced by access, frame condition and how many people it takes to lift the sheet. The same sized pane can vary several times over between an easy ground-floor aluminium frame and a second-storey heritage sash. A number without a measure is a guess.
